Connects2 CTACTIPOD003 Citroen C3 iPod Adapter

The other day I ordered a Connects2 iPod adapter for my Citroen C3 car. The adapter connects my iPod Touch to my car stereo’s CD changer port, allowing the car to control my iPod. I can now switch tracks, adjust volume and choose playlists using the controls on the front of my car stereo, or the ones on the steering wheel.

Fitting it was quite easy, the Connects2 device being a small silver box and some wire. The hardest part, as ususal, was getting the car stereo out. I have taken photos of the process, and will write it up later on. For now here are a few photos.

Rock out – classical style

One of my students at school pointed me in the direction of The Vitamin String Quartet, a group that covers other musician’s work as, strangely enough, a string quartet. Hovering somewhere between a dodgy MIDI file, and wicked genius the music is really entertaining.

They’ve done various tracks from Guitar Hero (yes, Through the fire and flames is in it too), hundreds of other albums, and it all sounds really good. It’s a sneaky way of getting people to listen to “popular” music without realising – you too could have your grandma bopping along to Raining Blood without her noticing ;)

Rock on :D

Fuppes, OGG files and my XBox 360

Thanks to Dom pointing me in the right direction, I’ve managed to make Fuppes share videos and music with my XBox 360, the Logik Internet Radio in my bedroom, the two regular XBoxes running XBMC and my N810 Internet tablet.

I tried this before, and it sort of broke down and I got horribly confused. Now it all works :)

This will also get written up and explained on my main website soon.

Technika SP-307b iPod speakers from Tesco

This is a Technika SP-307b iPod speaker from Tesco, for the bargain price of £25. It has a little pop out dock connector for the iPod to sit in, and runs off mains power or batteries. The sound quality is quite acceptable and due to the dock connector, charges your iPod while it’s being used.

I bought the Technika iPod speaker for work so that I can listen to music at my desk; my PC having no speakers. So now I can inflict my own taste in music on fellow workmates, rather than listen to theirs all the time.

I’m quite pleased with my iPod Touch, it’s proving to be a useful device, and 16GB being plenty of storage since so far I’ve put on all my decent music and only used 4GB. This probably means I need to buy some more CDs :)

Also in the picture you can see my Nixie clock and a photo of Mont Blanc. My iPod Touch is encased in a Griffin iClear polycarbonate case which has proved its worth several times already. Since I work in a school, full of deft little fingers I keep anything that looks valuable hidden out of site, or in my pockets. I’ve so far bounced my leg (and so my iPod) off several table corners which, had I not had the iPod protected would have probably damaged the case.

Here’s a tip – when carrying your iPod in a pocket, put the screen towards your leg so it doesn’t smash if the iPod gets bashed against something. I once destroyed a walkman doing that, and it was one of those expensive ones with soft-touch electronic controls rather than a clunky 80′s style one.

No more Star Power

All rocked out

All rocked out

Yesterday was the second day of the East Riding Rock Festival and tonight’s bands seemed better. Less screaming and shouting, and more … music. I’m not back home yet, but I think I’ll be looking around iTunes later for some new music to buy :)

While sat in the bar area me and Amy found this poor mite. He’d been out doing his thing quite hard earlier, and sometime around 10am ran out of Star Power.

His supposed friends hadn’t, and went off to find some marker pens to decorate his face. It’s not as mean as it might seem, the victim had just endured ten minutes of people shouting, hitting and jumping on his chest… with no reaction other than a bit of vague muttering and hand waving. He was out for the count and so, under the laws of events like this, fair game.
