Using CwGet to decode Morse from the WebSDR

Ages ago I discovered the websdr, software defined radio. It does clever things with Java to allow anyone on the web to listen to radio transmissions. Go and have a play, it’s fascinating. I spent ten minutes listening to some weird Chinese music.

The other thing I discovered was a program called CwGet, a utility that decodes Morse into text. After hearing a load of morse on the websdr, I decided to find out what they were all saying. Were they saying top secret government information? Was it some weather beacon transmitting data?

No, it was mostly lots of people saying the radio equivalent of “Hello? anyone there? I’m called Fred” “Hello Fred I can hear you, I’m called Bob” “Hi bob, nice to meet you, bye!”.
