My god I’ve just had a little shock!

I’m watching a 1.4MB file sloooowly condense out of the air into my laptop, it manages small bursts of 3k/sec at best, and 500b/sec at worse. Out of boredom I ssh into my home machine to see what’s going on. Also out of boredom I decide to download the file over there, just to compare speeds…

And it zips down instantly at 235k/sec!

Which is funny given my 512k ADSL line runs at 60k/sec usually. I go and tell it to download the linux kernel, all 30MB of it.

One and a half minutes later it is in my PC at home. It also came down at 235k/sec
