I think I’ve fixed my laptop…

After a bit of twisting of the lid and extracting lots of bits of broken plastic I’ve now got the thing open and am waiting for the Aradlite to dry. Hopefully I haven’t got any on the hinge itself, otherwise the laptop is going to stay permanently open!

This laptop is really badly built. The screws come loose and fall out. I found ALL the screws holding the screen together were loose and that some genius had made little plastic bits for the screws to screw into. These screws have to resist the whole force when you open and close the screen. The mangled bits of plastic were the things the screws screw into…

Laptop looks cool now with the screen bare and on show :-) A transparent case would be nice. The back of the LCD has high voltage warnings on it and a big piece of shiny foil to shield the screen from something.

I’ll come back and bend the screen in an hour just to make sure the hinges don’t sieze up.
